Sometimes, I’m completely amazed when I paint something and it looks… well, recognizable. Oh sure, there’s representational abstract art, but I tend to feel more comfortable with non-representational (or organic) abstracts.
I have no idea what I was thinking when I did this one. I think I was just playing with the different ways paint flows around on the paper. Ha! And look at that! It turned into something.
Ok, and what’s up with all the orange? I don’t like the color orange, and I seem to use a lot of it in my paintings.
Oh wait. Maybe it’s just that I won’t wear orange because it makes me look like a dead fish. It’s so hard to keep my eccentricities straight.
😉
It reminds me of one of Van Gogh’s field paintings. (and I hope I didn’t just insult you with that — some people don’t like his work — I think it’s too cool).

Van Gogh’s paintings are cool… so thanks!
It looks like rolling hills with a blazing sunset behind it. Very cool, kind of reminds me of this book I am reading right now Duma Key, it is about well lets just say an artist and he paints sunsets. It is stephen king so there is some weird stuff mixed up in the story, but the second I saw that painting of your it kind of made me laugh.
It is funny how you can stumble or in this case drop onto someones blog and something anything reminds you about something that is going on in your life right now.
Guess what? You picked the absolute perfect piece of art to show today, because it is “Go Orange for ASPCA Day” today! And what better way to go orange than to show such a beautiful picture with many shades of orange?

Where’s the fun in being consistent and logical with your eccentricities?
I love this image, especially because it reminds me of the novel I’ve been writing for decades “Prairie Fire”. Also, I’m immensely fond of orange. Perhaps that’s why I was so attracted to your “Flare” image?

Lovely painting. I also like to do total abstract. That way you can’t really make a mistake and sometimes they do ‘turn into something’ ;O)

@Rachel… Stephen King creeps me out (and yet I keep reading his stuff). I have a painting that I did that’s Tommyknocker green. It’s hidden somewhere.
@Daisy… serendipity! I love it! And hooray for ASPCA!
@Haley… Ok, I’ll stop trying to be logical. I’m going to have to set up a spreadsheet, though, to keep track of my eccentricities! Tell you what… you finish your book, and we’ll work out a deal for Fire in the Sky on the cover. hee hee hee
@Babs… so true! I’ve done paintings where I “messed up” but when I come back to them the next day, I see something totally different and all is well.
