Last night, I participated in a benefit concert for Jaliek Rainwalker, a boy who’s been missing from his upstate New York home since November. One of my chorus mates was his foster mother when he was 2, another friend and her husband provided respite foster care.
The concert was called Singing Jaliek Home. This is a boy who loves music; it was fitting to have a bunch of people who also love music singing just for him. It was a free concert, with all donations being used to benefit his reward fund.
Today is Missing Persons Day here in New York. And today I’m going to set aside my lighthearted banter and say… let’s not ever forget the children… the men… the women who are still missing. Let’s sing them all home.
Yellow One is for Jaliek.
The count is in regarding Find Jaliek Day, and it knocked me off my feet. $1318.00!! I am floored, amazed, and grateful! Kelly, this is beyond me? How did this happen? Jaliek is blessed, and thank you for blessing him back!! Two billboards are going up tomorrow or Wednesday in Greenwich. As soon as you tell me how to post the pic, I will put it here and show everyone what you, I, and everyone has done for Jaliek. Thank you, Kelly, for supporting Jaliek, and me. Love, Joy
That’s amazing! There’s so much love in this community. I got the graphic in my email this morning, and will add it to the post when I get back home.
